Lorna Jones is a mixed media textile artist and illustrator whose work is rooted in a lifelong passion for textiles and creative expression. She first studied illustration at Swansea College of Art, where she began to develop her distinctive visual language, before going on to achieve a First Class Honours degree in Textiles from Portsmouth University.
Now working from her studio at Fisherton Mill in Salisbury, Wiltshire, Lorna draws deep inspiration from the natural world, it's colours, patterns, and textures - as well as the rich folklore of her Welsh birthplace. These influences are woven throughout her practice, resulting in pieces that feel both organic and story-driven.
Lorna's work spans a range of techniques, including mixed media art, handspun art yarn, and felt making. Each piece reflects her tactile approach and fascination with materiality, blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary artistic exploration.
Alongside her studio practice, Lorna has dedicated over three decades to teaching art, textiles, and ceramics, sharing her knowledge and passion with generations of students.
Lorna takes on private commissions for her illustration work and runs one to one creative textile and felting workshops from her studio in Fisherton Mill. Please contact by email
